אובדן ושכול

המוות יפגוש כל אחד ואחת מאתנו. עם זאת, ואולי בשל כך, רבים מתחמקים מהתמודדות עם המוות ועם השלכותיו על השכולים. עבודה סוציאלית מציבה בפני העובדים במקצוע את הצורך לסייע במצבים של אובדן וסגל ביה"ס לעבודה סוציאלית מבקש לקרב עבור הסטודנטים והחברה את תחום האובדן והשכול תוך הכרה במגוון ובשונות הרבה בתגובה לאובדן ולשכול. בהתאמה, בביה"ס יש עיסוק בחוויות אובדן ושכול מפריזמות רחבות – נורמטיביות ופתלוגיות, תוך אימוץ תיאוריות, פרדיגמות ומתודולוגיות מחקר מגוונות. זאת ועוד, מוות ושכול הם מצבים אישיים אוניברסאליים אך באספקלריה הישראלית הם נושאים משמעות ציבורית. הבניות חברתיות אלו, היוצרות היררכיה בין שכולים ותגובות של אבל ציבורי, מקבלות ביטוי במחקר ובהוראה של חברי הסגל מתוך שאיפה לקדם חברה סובלנית ופלורליסטית.
